Discovering and using the Celtic Cross Tarot Spread


The Celtic Cross is probably one of the most well known and used tarot card spreads. The spread is attributed to A.E. Waite from his 'The Pictoral Key to the Tarot' (1911), however there is a theory by author Marcus Katz, put forward in an edition of the Tarosophist Magazine, that the spread has earlier origins and is not Celtic. Is there a single correct way to read Tarot cards?

In my recent blog post What is the correct way to start using or learning Tarot cards? I discussed my thoughts on not approaching Tarot in a prescriptive way, and I've been thinking a lot about that recently, so it was nice to come
across this video this morning by Crownsong Lodge on YouTube echoing the same sentiment. I've not yet seen many people talk about this aspect. I think it's an important lesson to learn in Tarot and one that should be expressed more.
